April 2024 Taiwan Earthquake
The DRAM and foundry industries in Taiwan have experienced minimal initial damage from the recent
earthquake, with manufacturers conducting inspections and reporting no significant equipment damage so
far. TrendForce predicts that production capacities will be restored swiftly, with minimal impact on supply.
Despite the temporary shutdowns for equipment inspections, NVIDIA's chip production at TSMC's facilities
remained uninterrupted. Micron has suspended DRAM pricing, while Samsung and SK hynix are monitoring
market direction before adjusting prices. Despite weak demand, there may be a slight short-term increase in
DRAM spot prices, but the continuation of this trend remains uncertain, with suppliers and module factories
adopting a cautious approach.
